Purple Media (with H264)

The Purple Media Encoder interfaces VHS, DVD and video camera sources to your network. Supplied in a 1U rack-mount chassis, the PMA comes as either a 2 or 4 channel device.

Variety of applications

The Purple Media Adaptor takes the video source and encodes it to MPEG1 for transmission on IP networks. Transmission can be at multiple bit-rates to satisfy a desk top PC population as well as a high quality set top box connected to a TV or large format display. Network transmission can be via TCP or Multicast RTP. Video can be encoded to a variety of resolutions such as QCIF, SIF or full-screen video. Video bit rates supported range from 320Kb to 8Mb per second. Audio bit rates supported range from 160Kb to 384KB per second. Purple Media Viewer

The Purple Media Viewer software application allows windows PC users to access any multicast service available on their network. Multiple services can be viewed simultaneously and the audio for each video selected independently. Users can size the video window for each video to meet their needs. With the Purple Media Viewer users are also able to capture video locally (to the limit of their local storage) or can connect to a Suitcase TV central archive facility such as MediaStor or TeraStor.

Purple Network Decoder

The same product is available as a network decoder to form point to point links with the Purple Media Encoder.

New H.264 encoder

An H.264 module is now available, as an option on this product, for generating multiple H.264 streams at variable bit rates. Please ask for further details of this option.
