TeraStor
The Suitcase TV TeraStor, combines both storage and high speed processing into a single scalable unit.
TeraStor excels at any task involving storage, moving or manipulating video and forms the core of Aqua and Purple product ranges.
Utilising 20 individual hot-swappable SATA drives, the storage capacity of each TeraStor can be configured to provide up to 30 TeraBytes (TB) of storage capacity inside a single 4U rack-mount frame. Further TeraStor units can be interconnected to provide larger storage configurations as required.
Unlike traditional storage systems each TeraStor has powerful on-baord processing capabilities so that each TeraStor can host applications in isolation or as part of a networked collection of TeraStor nodes. This ability to scale means that TeraStor does not loose performance irrespective of the size of the data archive.
Resilience and redundancy are built into a TeraStor but when things do start to fail the TeraStor will let us know using ADR. Advanced Diagnostic Reporting means that provided it has been given the ability to e-mail out, the TeraStor will send a wide range of status information back to Suitcase TV at regular intervals.
Using this data we are able to observe the first signs of potential hardware or software failure and take corrective action before the problem becomes critical. Often this can be as simple as replacing failing fans that might otherwise lead to a unit overheating or spotting that a HDD is regularly reporting to read/write failures and getting a spare out to the customer. Usually it means that we can be there to solve the problem before you even know that you need us.
